The essence to Krug I think is a Champagne searching for character and perfection whilst not necessarily following the well trodden path of the usual Grand Cru plots of Champagne. Since Joseph Krug’s establishing the business it is the eye to detail that grabs your attention. As an example rather than buying grapes from a whole vineyard, it quite often transpires that they prefer taking just a small plot from a vineyard which their highly experienced palates tell them that is just a notch about the grapes from the rest of the vineyard.
